Haitian Outreach Spring 2026 Update

Greetings Dear Friends of Haitian Outreach:

We in N.E. had an “old fashioned” winter with lots of snow, ice and bitter cold, but came through it safely. We hope the same for you.

Port au Prince, Haiti remains under the thumb of gangs, who have now have established “toll stops” in different areas. As people travel through these points, they take money for safe passage. Magdala and Thierry recently traveled to Croix de Bouquet and Mother Monique schools, where they experienced this situation first hand. They traveled there to take pictures of the students in those schools who are in our sponsorship program. Thank you for your bravery!

Student Pictures

The good news is we have received over 200 pictures from Haiti, which you will see in your tuition paperwork, provided your sponsor child is still attending school. If your child has moved out of the area or is no longer attending school, we have plenty of students who need sponsorship.  Contact me if you wish to continue to sponsor. The sisters choose who is most in need and will be successful in the future. We always pray that our sponsors realize the blessings they receive by donating to sponsor a student to go to school! Some sponsors have a new student every year. If your child is no longer in the school the sisters divide the tuition to keep more than one student in school. Tuition always goes to educate children. Education still remains our first and formost mission. What we do together changes the course of the lives of these children. We give them to opportunity to finish high school. We are grateful for your continued support.

Saut d’Eau

I mentioned that our school in Saut d’Eau was raided by gang members before the holidays. The sisters in that area fled and are living in the shelter of a different order of sisters. We are discussing a plan with Sr. Cadet and our team on the possibility of continuing the support we give theses students if at all possible in that area. If you wish to change your sponsorship to a student that we know we can reach and get a photo, please call or email Pauline.

Students in the other five schools (grades K-12) continue to attend school when safe to do so. We received a number of new students from the sisters at Lalue and Lilavois asking for sponsorship. If you know anyone willing to sponsor a student to attend school, please contact me.

Haitian Outreach Digital Footprint

We are expanding our digital footprint! I have had the privelege of working with a Fitchburg State University Junior majoring in Public Relations and Graphic Design. Adrian has done an amazing job getting us on Instagram and he is working on a “Go Fund Me”. Haitian Outreach can greatly benefit by increasing our digital profile. This is the way to go to keep our donations coming in and we dispurse them directly to the children in the six Catholic schools of the Daughters of the Queen Mary Immaculate order in Haiti that we serrve.

Adian‘s creation of a “Go Fund Me” page will target audiences who don’t know about Haitian Outrach and solicit funds for education and food programs we hope to support. It will launch sometime in early September 2026. He came up with the idea for a banner across our website where you can launch right into Facebook or Instagram, etc and see our posts. Watch for more information and tell your friends what we do and how they can help.  Follow us on Instagram: Haitian.Outreach or friend us on Facebook at Haitian Outreach

University Students

Finally Thierry St.-Hilaire took the oath to become an official lawyer. He is employed at a local law firm in Haiti. We will be publishing a story of his journey in the near future. Watch our Facebook page and Instagram posts.

Presently We Have Five University Students We Assist.  Two young men graduated from technical schoos recently:

Emanuela Pierre & Jodmarline Dol will be entering their 2nd year as nursing students, Frantsioua Dessources, (who I call Fran)  begins her 3rd year as a nursing student in September. We are so proud of these young people. Nursing is a five year program in Haiti. The value of a nurse in Haiti is substantial!

Immaculee Cadet is entering her 5th year studies as a Dental Hygenist. She will finish in 2027 thanks to support from her sponsor and Haitian Outreach.

Stephanie Noel finished her university studies and would like to attend Medical school. In our experience this is a long and expensive journey and our team decided years ago to educate as many students as possible in our lifetime versus one student for 10 years. God will guide her if it is in her future. Thank you to those sponsors who have helped her and all our university students along the way.

Jeffrey & Olivier graduated from Technical schools this spring. Jeffrey as an HVAC mechanic and Olivier (Matteo) as an auto mechanic. We hold out hope that they will be able to find work and help their families. We await pictures of their graduations as it was cancelled due to gang activities in the area.

Olivier working on a automobile motor and  having a little fun! He is the son of our driver: YE YE

We are grateful to all those who donate to Haitian Outreach and find it a secure place to support a  program that changes lives. Haitian students and their parents would bravely move mountains to educate their children for a better life. Education is #1 in any country and creates a population of hard-working and committed citizens! We continue to keep that first and formost for Haiti’s future.

Education remains our main focus. Our second focus (since we can’t send backpacks) has become “Food Insecurity” which is why “Larry’s Food Fund” was started.

We were able to send Sr. Marianne $9,000.00 this year to feed the 600 students in her school five times a month. We are looking to repeat this in the coming school year. If you can help, we are grateful for your support.

GRANT Information:

We have been awarded a grant from the Lynch Foundation to build a “Toilet Block” at the sisters’ school in Roche a Bateau. The children have been using out houses and this will greatly improve health and wellbeing of young students there, especially females. It will also reduce absentees. Here is a picture of the  beginning of the project. We are grateful to the Lynch Foundation in so many ways for improving the lives of these students. Sadly, this project was underestimated and we hope to be able to send the remainder of the funds for the plumber and electrician! Sr. Mirdith is excited!

ST Bernard Presentation to Parish:

We were able to download the video presentation (talk) given to St. Bernard parishoners in February by Pauline on our website (front page). Take a look and see if you learn anything new about what we have been working on.

Donations:

We have been able to donate our good locally to organization such as “Up With Books” and St. Vincent de Paul” Haitian Outreach is always looking to help othere wether near or far.

Thank You!

We would also like to that the Leclerc Fund for their many years of support for our child education program. They have helped us education children since the 1990’s. Without these generous organizations and sponsors, we would not be able to move the children of Haiti forward. God bless you all!
