Haitian Outreach Winter 2026 Update
Haitian Outreach continues its mission despite continuing gang violence and economic instability. Things in Haiti haven’t changed much. The gangs still dominate in Port au Prince and are moving across the country.
Our school in Saut d’Eau was raided by gang members before the holidays. The Sisters in that area continue to live in hiding. Pray for their safety.
Students in the other five schools in grades K-12 continue to attend school when safe to walk on the roads.
Our university students persevere. Sometimes they tell me how difficult it is just to survive day to day, but they are strong and determined to finish their studies. They realize the importance of education in their country.
Presently we have 5 university students and 2 young men in technical schools:
Emanuela Pierre will be entering her 2nd year as a nursing student.
Frantsioua Dessources, who I call Fran, will also be going into her 2nd year of nursing.
Immaculee Cadet is studying Dental Hygiene. She will finish in 2026 thanks to support from her sponsor and Haitian Outreach.
Stephanie Noel has returned to us. She finished 3 years at university and had to stop because of the situation in the country. She has asked to return to our program to complete her nursing studies.
Jodmarline Dol whose guardian is Sr. Irma was taken into the program a few years ago in middle school. Last year she completed and English & Computer course and this year Sr. Irma asked us to assist her in university to study nursing.
We would like to thank everyone who donates to Haitian Outreach. It helps us support these students and their parents who bravely move mountains to educate their children for a better life. Education is #1 in any country and creates a population of hard working and vested citizens! We continue to keep that goal in mind for Haiti’s future.
“Education” remains our main focus. Our second focus (since we can’t send backpacks) is “Food Insecurity” which is why “Larry’s Food Fund” was started.
Food grant
Haitian Outreach received a grant from the Lynch Foundation to aid with the feeding programs at the two schools. This vital support helps the sisters provide food regularily to students who might otherwise go hungry. Children need nourishment to focus and learn. We have a hard time imagining being hungry, but there are millions of children across the world, and nearby who suffer from food insecurity. Sr. Marianne can feed the children now five times a month!
Each trip to town she purchases:
4 large bags of cornflakes = 2560 HTG
2 large bags of powdered milk =2100 HTG
1 large bag of sugar = 700 HTG
boxes of cookies = 3920 HTG
Fuel for automobile = 4550 HTG
Driver = 1000 HTG
Haitian Outreach also allocated funds to Sr. Cadet, Lilavois for her Breakfast Program. (pictures below) Donations assist Haitian Outreach to provide funds for both important programs. Food insecurity is still a significant issue in Haiti. We appreciate the foundation's support in aiding meals for children in need.
Please check out our newest web page that shows letters we receive from students along with their photos.
There are also videos of students at Damassin expressing appreciation for the snacks provided to them five times a month now. The page displays their gratefulness and joy for the help and prayers that we send them.
We are actively working with Sr. Cadet to obtain a way to take pictures of the children we sponsor and forward them to the child’s sponsor. Watch for more information coming on this project.
MERRY CHRISTMAS SISTERS!
We were able to purchase a HP Printer/Scanner/Fax for the main convent in St. Marie. Guess what? Haiti does not have capability to fax. The sisters were happy to get it set up and operating. We hope to provide supplies, paper, and ink in the future.
Please continue to pray for peace in Haiti and around the world! God bless you for your generosity to these children. Pauline
